Tongva Park
Owner:
City of Santa Monica
Architect:
JCFO
General Contractor:
W.E. O'Neil
Tongva Park, named after the indigenous people who lived there, is a new seven-acre park in the City of Santa Monica. James Corner Field Operations’ design turns a flat dirt lot into a dynamic park with undulating hills, water features and fun play areas. Four main areas: Garden Hill, Discovery Hill, Observation Hill and Gathering Hill, each provides a different experience for children, residents, and visitors.
Shaw & Sons’ patent-pending walls feature a smooth to heavy texture and are battered in curvilinear design. Hardscape finishes on this project include Lithocrete Presto for larger aggregates and L.Q.S. for smooth granite sand and aggregate finish.
