Grand Park is a 12-acre park connecting City Hall to Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. The park designed by RIOS replaces the old civic plaza and parking lot with terraced lawns and gardens that descend along a 90 foot grade change. Divided by two city streets it is organized along four public spaces.
The park features black seeded aggregate bands, black groove trowel bands, dark gray silica carbide bands and natural gray field paving. The walls are natural gray with an light in-form retarder finish and cast-in-place skate deterrent reveals.
